Hight Point Rules

I . Eligibility

  • Horses owned by members of the Arabian Horse Association of Utah (AHAU), if a horse is jointly owned or syndicated, at least fifty percent of the owners shall be members of AHAU.

  • Leased horses for the purposes of High-Point shall be considered as owned by the lessee, and the lessee shall be a member of AHAU.

  • All owners and Junior Exhibitors shall be AHAU Members prior to the Deseret I show to be eligible for any high point award.

II. Junior Exhibitor

  • The age of junior exhibitors shall be 18 years old and under, and will be determined as of December 1, of the preceding year.

  • Junior exhibitors competing for the High-Point Award shall be members of AHAU.

  • Points for the High-Point Junior Exhibitors must be earned in junior (amateur) exhibitor classes or events only.  In all other classes the points will be awarded to the horse.  In no instance will the points be counted for both horse and the rider.

  • AHA and USEF Medal Classes will not be counted towards the awards.

III. Amateur Exhibitor

  • The age of exhibitors shall be 19 years older, and will be determined as of Dec. 1 of the preceding year.

  • Amateur Exhibitors competing for the High-Point Award shall be members of AHAU.

  • Points for the High-Point Amateur Exhibitors must be earned in amateur exhibitor classes or events only.  In all other classes the points will be awarded to the horse.  In no instance will the points be counted for both horse and the rider.

IV. Shows

  • The following shows will be used for accumulation of points for the awards:

    • Deseret I (AHAU) – Participation is required in Deseret Horse Show to be eligible for High-Points (Double Points)

    • UAHC Spring Show

    • UAHC Autumn Classic

    • Regions: 3,4,6,7 and 8 Region Championships

V. Points

  • The following chart indicates the system that will be used for tabulation of points for the AHAU High-Point Award for all Class A qualifying classes.

  • The following chart indicates the system that will be used for tabulation of points for the AHAU High-Point Award for all Class A Championship classes.

VI.  High-Point Award Categories

  • Halter Division; Purebred Halter Horse & Half Arabian Halter Horse

  • Performance Division; Champion Overall Purebred Performance Horse & Half-Arabian Performance Horse

High Point Youth

  • 14 – 17 Champion; 14 – 17 Reserve Champion

  • 13 and Under Champion; 13 and Under Reserve Champion

High Point Amateur

  • Champion Purebred Amateur 18 – 39; Reserve Champion Purebred Amateur 18 – 39

  • Champion Purebred Amateur 40 and Over; Reserve Champion Purebred Amateur 40 and Over

  • Champion Half Arabian Amateur 18 – 39; Reserve Champion Half Arabian Amateur 18 – 39

  • Champion Half Arabian Amateur 40 and Over; Reserve Champion Half Arabian Amateur 40 and Over
